Music Notation

I create music notation using the Steinberg Dorico software, and can provide output as a Dorico project file, a PDF score, a MusicXML file, and/or a MIDI score and instrument parts. PDF output can include lyrics, a separate lead sheet and separate instrument parts if you wish. You can specify which of these output formats you want.

The calculator below takes a number of factors into account to provide a reliable Base Price before work begins. The only subjective, qualitative factor is the Complexity Level, which I can determine once you upload a copy of the existing format of the music. (Pricing for different staves or different sections of a piece may use a different Complexity Level if one part has substantially different features or is substantially more complex than another. Separate calculations can be run for separate sections of the piece.)

Once the Complexity Level can be entered into the calculator along with the quantitative factors, a reliable Base Price can be determined. I then add an amount based on an hourly rate for any ongoing discussions and revisions, to arrive at a Total Price.

The cost of any arrangement of the music for a different set of instruments is not covered in the calculator, but can be added at the hourly rate. The quantitative factors in the notation calculator will also need to be adjusted to suit the new arrangement.

Notation to or from guitar tablature or figured bass is not currently offered.

Please do not request the notation of music without the permission of the copyright holder unless the creative work is in the public domain.

If you prefer not to use the calculator, or if anything unusual about the project prevents the use of it, I can work to a flat hourly rate for the whole project instead. The current hourly rate is A$79.80 (Australian dollars).

Payment Arrangements

If you prefer not to have me work based on the above calculator, I can alternatively work to a flat hourly rate of A$79.80 (Australian dollars).

Ordering music notation requires a payment of 50% of the Base Price up front, and the remainder of the Total Price on delivery of the completed work.

Payment for Australian customers is by credit card, debit card or direct deposit in Australian dollars, and for overseas customers is via Wise.com in any of the following currencies: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), Canadian Dollar (CAD), New Zealand Dollar (NZD), Singapore Dollar (SGD), Hungarian Forint (HUF), Romanian New Leu (RON), or Turkish Lira (TRY).
